Quick Bio:

Fran Cathcart is a two-time Grammy-winning producer, guitarist and engineer.  Hailing from Orono, Maine, Fran moved to New York to attend NYU, living in and around NYC’s Lower East Side and various Brooklyn neighborhoods.  He spent his early years playing jazz and rock guitar in bands around town while honing his production and engineering skills, eventually taking an entry level position at Eastside Sound, working for future partner Lou Holtzman.  After opening a commercial project studio, and running that for three years, Mr. Holtzman approached Fran about opening a new facility, under the name Eastside Sound.  Agreeing to the idea, Fran and Lou completed the new facility on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in 2003.

In 2005, Fran had the good fortune to connect with American music legend Les Paul and fellow producer Bob Cutarella. Through that experience, Fran was able to work with artists such as Joss Stone, Sting, Johnny Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls, Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, to name a few. The project culminated in success at the Grammy Awards in 2006, being recognized with two awards. Mr. Cathcart’s base of operations is Eastside Sound (www.eastsidesound.com), in New York City, where he is co-owner with Lou Holtzman.  Eastside Sound is also the home base of engineers Marc Urselli and Eric Elterman.

Also in 2008, Fran founded Automatik Musik, a music production company.  Having success soon after, landing the song “This Gift” featuring R&B star Deborah Cox on vocals, on the soundtrack to the Tyler Perry film “Meet the Browns”  The song was co-produced with partner Izaiah de Marco.  Also affiliated with Automatik are:  Rahmel McDade, Nickelz, Matt Modula, Wolfmuggz (Danny Graciano), and Mac Leo.
